Crossroads Community Outreach Day – Saturday, November 17th

Crossroads,

Would you like to better know your neighbors? Would you like your neighbors to know Jesus Christ? This Saturday, November 17th, is Community Relational Outreach Day, and we will be pursuing both of these goals.

We’ll send out teams of three or four into the surrounding neighborhoods to simply tell our neighbors about Crossroads, invite them to Pie & Praise, and ask them if there’s any way we can pray for them. No training is needed, only a soul stirred by Christ’s love, willing feet and words of invitation.

We will meet at 1 p.m. at the Dumfries Boys and Girls Club in the church office. The church office is located on the main floor by the staircase. There will be a brief time of orientation and prayer prior to setting out into surrounding neighborhoods. We should all be done between 2:30 and 3:30.

Crossroads Annual Pie and Praise

Our Annual Pie and Praise event was a great evening of joyful thanksgiving.

We would like to thank everyone for all of their hard work that helped to make this event a success.

Movie Nights

Our next Movie Night is to be determined.

Last time we watched “Casablanca” featuring Humphrey Bogart and the beautiful Ingrid Bergman. This PG film won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1943. Here is a summary:

“One of the most beloved American films, this captivating wartime adventure of romance and intrigue from director Michael Curtiz defies standard categorization. Simply put, it is the story of Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a world-weary ex-freedom fighter who runs a nightclub in Casablanca during the early part of WWII. Despite pressure from the local authorities, notably the crafty Capt. Renault (Claude Rains), Rick’s cafà (C) has become a haven for refugees looking to purchase illicit letters of transit which will allow them to escape to America. One day, to Rick’s great surprise, he is approached by the famed rebel Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) and his wife, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), Rick’s true love who deserted him when the Nazis invaded Paris. She still wants Victor to escape to America, but now that she’s renewed her love for Rick, she wants to stay behind in Casablanca. “You must do the thinking for both of us,” she says to Rick. He does, and his plan brings the story to its satisfyingly logical, if not entirely happy, conclusion.” ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Congregational Meeting – Sunday, October 14th

We will hold a Congregational meeting at 12:15 p.m. (following Sunday School) to reelect Mr. Kim Haney to the office of ruling elder.
