Christian Education – Fall 2021
Sundays from 11:15 – 12:15
October 3 through December 19
Nursery (Through age 4): Children in the nursery will learn who Jesus is, that he is alive, and how to trust God.
Younger Elementary (Grades K–3): Worshipping God. Why do we come to church? These lessons discuss the joys and duties of worship: Who and why we worship, the Lord’s Prayer, and elements of worship.
Older Elementary (Grades 4–6): Job to Malachi. Let’s go beyond the familiar stories to cover the songs, proverbs, and prophets of the Bible.
Youth Group (Grades 7-12): Applicable Youth Studies. Based on the ages and stages of our Youth class, we’ll have appropriate curricula to prepare them for questions they have as they transition from child to youth to young adult and assume responsibility and service within the church body.
Friendship Class (Special Needs Education)
The Road to Jerusalem: Seven units that tell the story of Jesus’s passion: that final week of His life as He sets His face toward Jerusalem, goes willingly to the cross, and rises from the dead.
Learning to Love the Psalms: The Book of Psalms is one of the greatest treasures the Lord has given to His people. Through these sacred poems, God has given us a rich songbook and a divinely inspired guide for our prayers. In this teaching series, Dr. Godfrey provides an overview of the Psalms with the specific goal of learning to love them through a study of their themes, structure, and beauty.
New Members Class
This class is for all who are interested in joining Crossroads PCA as a communicate member. This 6-week course will cover the basics of Christianity and the Reformed Faith as well as distinctives of the Presbyterian Church in America.
Our new Summer Schedule starts on June 6, the Worship Service will be held at 10:30a.m. We will switch back to normal 9:30a.m. Worship Service on Sunday, September 12.
We are exited to Welcome our new Pastor, Alex Young, and his family to Crossroads.
Alex grew up in a Christian home in North Canton, Ohio, and is grateful not to remember a day he did not know the Lord or desire to live for Him. He has grown in his own faith and has seen God at work in others through various ministries, including Young Life, Stephen Ministry, and Good Works (in Athens, Ohio). His calling to serve in pastoral ministry was confirmed while serving as an intern at Bethesda Evangelical Church in St. Louis. Alex is a graduate of Grove City College and Covenant Theological Seminary. Prior to his call to serve at Crossroads, Alex served as an associate pastor in NW Ohio, where he met and married his wonderful wife, Jenny. Alex and Jenny have two precious little girls: Joanna and Eden. Alex has delighted in getting to know the Crossroads church family so far, and is grateful to God for the opportunity to serve as our pastor.
Care Groups meet in homes for prayer, fellowship and further study. It is a great place to grow and get to know others in the church, becoming connected. All care groups have standing open invitations to everyone. If you want more information on Care Groups, contact the Church Office at (703) 794-9431.

Dear church family,
Faced with the restrictions that we are now experiencing the Session has decided to take a different approach to Fall Sunday School beginning on September 13th. We wish to bring unity in our congregation in the doctrines that we believe. So, we have chosen to ask everyone, children and adults, to study the Westminster Shorter Catechism at home. So, please purchase at Amazon books the book, The Westminster Shorter Catechism for Study Classes written by G.I. Williamson for $8.95. Each chapter contains a short explanation to the question and answer for each week and has questions to be answered at the end of each chapter. Attached is a syllabus for everyone to use. We are asking the parents to teach their children at home. We believe that this will be a very rewarding exercise for all adults and children. Singles may want to study together. We encourage you to choose a regular time each Sunday for this exercise. It is designed, so that you should finish in an hour or less. We also encourage further discussion of the doctrines, when we meet with each other in various settings. If you have any questions, please ask a member of the Session for the answer.
On behalf of the Session,
Dear Crossroads Family,
Under the restrictions below, we are opening the church for in-person worship.
We will continue to live-stream the service for the foreseeable future. If anyone feels it is safer to worship at home, we want you to feel free to do so.
We will adhere to the government’s mandatory requirements for religious services. Our guidelines are addressed below:
- Please use the main door to the church, which we will prop open.
- Out of consideration for everyone, please wear a mask from the time you enter the building until you leave. (Worship leaders and praise band singers may be unmasked while performing their duties.)
- We ask that you maintain social distance of six feet. We will have seating arranged to provide for social distancing.
- We ask that you sit together as a family.
- Please print and bring your own bulletins.
- We will not pass the offering plates; offering can be given in the plates as you depart, at the end of the service.
- We will not staff the Nursery.
- We encourage you to fellowship outside after the service, weather permitting.
- If you are sick or if you have come in contact with someone who is or was contagious with COVID 19, please stay home until it is safe for you to join us.
In His Grip,
Crossroads Session and Deacons
