Youth Group Fall Kick-Off Event – Saturday, September 11

Youth Group (grades 7–12) “Get a Clue” event. 3:00p.m – 8:30pm. Sharpen your mind for the upcoming FALL school semester – careful, these clues might just hurt your brain! We will meet at the Naylor’s (2784 Sugar Pine Ct., Woodbridge, VA 22192) and carpool to Potomac Mills Mall. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends and have them join us for an awesome scavanger hunt AND they will get to hear about Christ and His love for us. A Bible lesson and pizza back at the Naylor’s will follow the game. Please bring a snack to share if your last name starts (A-M) or a dessert if your last name starts (N-Z). Crossroads Youth Group SNL Summer Series

Sunday Night Live (SNL) is back again for the Summer. The youth (grades 7-12) will meet in Crossroads Church family homes to view and discuss a DVD series based on the book Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper. In this fabulous work, John Piper challenges us to set aside the trivial pursuit of self-fulfillment so that we can develop a deeper passion for God. Piper believes that if we submit the sufferings we endure, the risks we take, and the goals we set to the pursuit of God’s glory, then not one moment of our lives will be wasted. The SNL Meetings are scheduled for Sunday evenings: July 11, July 25, August 8 and August 22 from 6pm until 8:30pm. See the church calendar for meeting locations.

Local Mission Project – Saturday, May 8, 2010

Please come and join us on Saturday, May 8th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am for a local mission project to help provide food for the hungry.

The Society of St. Andrew works with farmers, volunteers, church, individual supporters, and hunger relief agencies to bridge the hunger gap by simply salvaging fresh food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to those in need. This hands-on project will be held outside and is designed to bag 40,000 pounds of cabbages gleaned from a field in Virginia that could not be sold to grocers due to imperfections, however still nutritionally viable.

Youth Ski Retreat

March 5-7 Our Youth Ski Retreat spent a wonderful weekend at Timberline Ski Resort in Canaan Valley, WV.

We had two days of skiing in great snow conditions they have had over 250 inches of snow this year, all the trails were open. The sun shone the whole weekend.

We stayed at Canaan Valley Baptist Church and had a lot of fun getting to know each other better and sharing God’s word. Andrea Williams and Marcy Naylor (plus a couple of other adults) prepared some great meals for us. and Dave Williams kept us on track with a fun-filled schedule.

Please join the Crossroads Presbyterian Church Youth (Grades 7-12) Ministry for a sports night in the gymnasium at the Dumfries Boys & Girls Club (17565 Old Stage Coach Road, Dumfries, Virginia 22026) from 7pm. until 10pm, on FRIDAY, February 12, 2010. The sports night will consist of food, fellowship, organized sports/games and some free time to play sports/games, or you may bring a favorite board or card game. This is a free convergence event so invite your friends. Please bring a snack to share with others. Drinks will be provided. For questions, please contact Dave Williams (703-791-4398).

Save the date: Annual Youth Ministry ski retreat to Timberline Ski Resort in Davis, WV. We plan to leave on Friday evening, March 5th and return Sunday evening, March 7th. More details will follow soon.

As of Friday afternoon this event has not been cancelled due to the snowstorm heading our way, it will be determined on Sunday when we know if the roads are clear of snow. Please contact the Haney’s for more information on Sunday at 703-221-4130.

Join the Youth Group for our annual Christmas Party, hosted by the seniors at the Haney House (17822 Oyster Bay Ct. Dumfries, VA) on Sunday, December 20th from 6-9 pm. We will get together for fun and games, and of course food. If you haven’t signed up to bring something contact Christine Sampson at 703-732-1525.
