Join us as we explore the Bible for answers to these questions and more. We will pray and for one another and discuss many issues raised by the author. Proverbs offers us timeless wisdom for our words, work, wealth and relationships. Living a Proverbs-driven life will result in spiritual and practical blessings. But it is vitally important to remember that the goal of Proverbs is not finding earthly prosperity or even wisdom itself. The goal of Proverbs is to grow ever closer to the God who is Wisdom.

Study: The Book of Acts

We will study Acts for understanding and enthusiastic application of how God builds His church through His people with His Spirit who come together in one accord, first in Jerusalem and then beyond. The over-arching thrust for this study is for us to grasp and personally apply Acts 2:42 and have fun doing it. It is an inductive Bible study and we will go verse by verse. We’ll be standing around the fire, warming our hands, fellowshipping, devoting ourselves to the apostles teaching, breaking bread with one another and praying.

Care Groups – Everyday Evangelism Course

Please prayerfully consider your group’s participation in a new seven-week course called Everyday Evangelism provided by Evangelism Explosion.  George and Linda Roller will serve as roving facilitators to help each Care Group participant learn to share faith effectively.

First, attend a Share Your Faith Workshop where you will learn the basic evangelistic tool by using the five fingers on your hand as a prompt.

Then participate in the seven-week Care Group course that will complete your training and even provide you with opportunities to share the gospel with your friends, neighbors, relatives, and church visitors.

The Care Group hosted by the Rollers will be the first to provide Everyday Evangelism training.  This seven-week course will begin on Wednesday, March 17, following the all day Share Your Faith workshop on Saturday, March 13.

Everyone in the church is invited to participate in the Share Your Faith all day workshop.  Every individual who is not presently in a Care Group is welcome to join the Rollers for the seven weeks of training following the workshop.  Any other Care Group that would like to join the Roller Care Group for this first seven-week course in Everyday Evangelism is welcome to do so.

Contact George or Linda Roller for more details: 703-794-0665

Stafford Care Group – New Series Started November 4, 2009

The Stafford Care Group started a new series on Wednesday, November 4, and everyone is invited.  Our topic will be how to answer the questions that non-Christians friends and acquaintances ask us.  “How often have you been overwhelmed by an onslaught of tough objections as you attempted to communicate the message of Christianity to your non-Christian friends?”  It’s a common experience for all of us.  They ask honest, sincere questions and we find ourselves unprepared to answer them.  What could have been an opportunity to introduce them to Christ is turned into an awkward experience that leaves them uninformed and us embarrassed.

We will be using the book, I’m Glad You Asked, by Ken Boa and Larry Moody.  Some of the questions that we will deal with are:

  • How can you be sure there really is a God?
  • What basis is there for believing in miracles?
  • The Bible is full of errors and myths – how can you believe it?
  • If God is good, why do evil and suffering exist?
  • Isn’t it narrow-minded to claim that Christ is the only way to God?
  • How can Christianity be true when its adherents are so phony and hypocritical?

We will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month, starting November 4 and continuing into May or June.  We meet at the home of Pastor Bennett, 34 Monument Drive, Stafford 22554 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.  Our goal is to help us be faithful ambassadors for Christ in a skeptical world, supporting one another in prayer, and enjoying fellowship together.  If you can only make an occasional meeting, that’s okay, but you will need a copy of the book we’re using.

The book is available for purchase on the Internet.  The best price I have found is $10.99 at http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=63387

You can also read the book online for free at http://books.google.com/books?id=9ep5r973XwIC&dq=I’m+Glad+You+Asked+Boa&printsec=frontcover&source=bl&ots=kd4enMXlQB&sig=uosEO3xWIeDtQIfn1915KQor1Tw&hl=en&ei=32DoSvrVLoetlAfmha2KCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBQQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=&f=false
