Picnic Viewed a Success by All
Sunday the 13th of September was the 5th annual Crossroads picnic at Leesylvania State Park. The weather was beautiful and the fellowship even warmer.

It was fun to read the top 100 bible verses that people have searched for on BibleGateway.com. See if you agree. Have you memorized any of these?

What are the most popular Bible verses on BibleGateway.com?
We thought it would be interesting to find out, so we crunched some numbers from a (relatively) small sample of 25 million Bible passage searches from March and April.
This list isn’t actually based on a straight popularity count; simply tallying the most-read verses results in a top 100 list that consists almost entirely of John 3:16 and verses from 1 Corinthians 13, Genesis 1, Romans 8, and Psalm 23. Our list instead considers instances in which BibleGateway.com users looked at three or fewer verses at one time.
If you’re curious to know what the least popular Bible passage is, it’s 1 Chronicles 23-27, which details the organization of the priests and officials under King David.
Here are the top 100 most-read Bible verses on BibleGateway.com (all verses quoted from the NIV):
One of the themes we have recently seen repeated in John’s Gospel is a clear call – a command – to serve. In 12:25-26, John records that Jesus said, “The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.” In the next chapter, John again quotes Jesus: “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” (13:17) These words of our Lord Jesus must not be taken lightly.
I am very thankful that many of you are already actively engaged in the life of the Body of Christ at Crossroads. But for those who are feeling led to become more involved, or for those who might be unaware of the current opportunities to serve, please read the list of the Top Ten Opportunities to Serve, below. Then prayerfully consider where you might “plug in” to Crossroads. These are listed in alphabetical order, except #10.

… and #10 is Whatever the Lord is leading you to do. Let’s talk. Call me any time, Tuesday – Sunday.
“If you are a Christian, you are not your own. Christ has bought you at the price of his own death. You now belong doubly to God: He made you, and he bought you. That means your life is not your own. It is God’s. Therefore, the Bible says, ‘Glorify God in your body.’ God made you for this. He bought you for this. This is the meaning of your life.” (John Piper in the Preface to his book, Don’t Waste Your Life)
Your brother in Christ,
