Congregational Meeting – Sunday, March 13

There will be a congregational meeting immediately following the Worship Service, this Sunday, March 13 to present and discuss “A Way Forward”.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

A Way Forward

Dear Crossroads,

On Tuesday, March 15th Potomac High School informed us that major renovations to the school are scheduled to begin this summer. Because of this, Crossroads will have to vacate Potomac High School no later than June 12th! The renovation is projected to take 2–3 years. I am very excited and eager to see what the Lord will provide for Crossroads. Affordable places to meet are hard to find, but I know that God has a plan for us. I want to urge you to pray. I would also like to invite you to support the Facility Search Committee in any way you feel led.

A “Way Forward” presentation is scheduled for Sunday, March 13th. Please plan to stay after the worship service to hear how the Lord has led us to this point, and to look ahead together. I will present a summary of the various options under consideration. Your feedback will be very welcome and important.

Shawn and Cindy Riggle are planning to host the next Facility Search Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 15th from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at their home. All are welcome to join in this very exciting work.

As the Lord led His people to a new place, he told his servant Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Your brother
in Christ,
Don

Youth Group Ski Retreat March 4-6 – Fun in WV

The Crossroads Youth Group enjoyed a fun weekend at Timberline Ski Resort in Canaan Valley, WV. Saturday we spent the whole day skiing and the rain held off for the entire day, so everyone had fun. For some it was their first time on skis, and they got to enjoy a lesson to get them started. No injuries!! Everyone skiied safely and somewhat in control! The evening was spent enjoying a meal lovingly made by Marcy Naylor, who spent the day doing preparation for dinner and the next morning’s breakfast. We played a few games and sang some songs led by Emily Neice on the guitar.

Sunday was a different story with heavy rainfall and snow starting around noon. Instead of skiing we joined Cannan Valley Baptist Church for their Worship Service. Kevin McMullen came up with a neat idea of “Donut Olympics”  for everyone to play. Games were pretty hilarious, ranging from a wheel barrow race to the pile of donuts, and donut archery. I’m sure if you ask any of the youth they can explain in more detail!!!

A very long trip home in the snow, over 6 hours. Everyone arrived safe, if not a little tired. Thanks to all of those who spent a lot of work arranging/leading this trip, especially Dave and Andrea Williams.

Crossroads Music Ministry

Real worship is about more than enjoying music, and it is about more than what we do on Sunday morning. Worship starts with the heart; recognizing our brokenness and need for redemption, and coming to know God as He has revealed Himself through His Word. Crossroads Music Ministry seeks to lead the congregation to worship the living God with one voice, to give Him glory, and respond to Him with humility and worship.

Women’s Spring Bible Studies and Annual Retreat

Ladies, Spring Bible Studies have started. Both groups will be studying the book Practicing Hospitality: The Joy of Serving Others by Pat Ennis and Lisa Tatlock. Read what others have said of this book:
What makes a person or a home hospitable? Does hospitality call for a beautifully decorated home and a menu filled with gourmet foods, or can it be as simple as offering a friend a cup of tea?
Pat Ennis and Lisa Tatlock have served a rich fare of biblical teaching and practical application. With comprehensive scope and depth, this book provides tremendous motivation for obeying the biblical commands to practice hospitality-motivation rooted in the character and ways of God himself. Each chapter concludes with insightful questions and Bible studies, as well as practical tips and recipes. Practicing Hospitality will help readers grow in understanding and carrying out the biblical mandate of Christian hospitality in ways that honor the Lord.
The Manassas study meets at 9:30am, at Barbara Wilsher’s home. Several women will be co-leading the study.
The Stafford/Quantico group meets at Christina Bartholomew’s home  from 1:00 – 3:00pm, with Rebecca McAfee leading the study. Childcare will be provided.
April 8 and 9th we will once again be meeting at Massanetta Springs Retreat Center near Harrisonburg, VA, for our annual Women’s Retreat. We will be following up on what we have learned about hospitality in our Bible Studies with plenty of laughter and fellowship along the way!
