Crossroads Newsletter – Introduction and Name The Newsletter Contest

The exciting news is that Crossroads has sent out it’s first Newsletter this month, we hope this will be another good source of information and a great way for us to stay connected as a congregation.

Amanda Haney is our Editor and Shawn Riggle is the Technical Guru. They have already spent many hours working on the format and content ideas for the newsletter. They hope to focus on upcoming events and to highlight what’s going on in our Church Ministries, along with many other articles.

We are looking for a fancy name for our Newsletter, so put on your thinking caps and send recommendations to shawn.riggle@gmail.com. The winner will be awarded ice cream for 2 at Rita’s. Submissions should be sent before October 16, 2010.

Hopefully you have received the new Crossroads Newsletter by email, if you have not please email cindyriggle@crossroadspca.net to be added to our distribution list.

Spaghetti Dinner – A Word of Thanks

Dear Church Family,

Please accept my sincere thanks for your support and for all your help and generosity for the spaghetti dinner.  As God multiplied the fishes and loaves, so He used your service, donations and financial support to provide over $1300 for the expenses for Matt’s dog.

Thank you for your kindness.

Your Sister in Christ,

Kimberly

Crossroads Youth Group SNL Summer Series

Sunday Night Live (SNL) is back again for the Summer. The youth (grades 7-12)  will meet in Crossroads Church family homes to view and discuss a DVD series based on the book Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper. In this fabulous work, John Piper challenges us to set aside the trivial pursuit of self-fulfillment so that we can develop a deeper passion for God. Piper believes that if we  submit the sufferings we endure, the risks we take, and the goals we set to the pursuit of God’s glory, then not one moment of our lives will be wasted.  The SNL Meetings are scheduled for Sunday evenings: July 11, July 25, August 8 and August 22 from 6pm until 8:30pm. See the church calendar for meeting locations.

Crossroads Car Wash Fundraiser – Thanks

Dear all,

A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Car Wash Fundraiser this morning. It was hot, but we had a lot of fun as we came together for this event. Thanks to all who volunteered their time, donated items, brought their cars and those who encouraged us through prayer.

We raised a total of $439 for the Crossroads Building Fund, which will be matched for a total of $878.

Crossroads Car Wash Fundraising Event – Saturday, June 26

Crossroads will be hosting a Car Wash Fundraising Event at the Silver Diner on Smoketown Road (14375 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge, VA) on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 9:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. with set up beginning at 8:30a.m.

Q: How can I help?

A: I am glad you asked! We have five different ways for you to help out:

1. You can help by donating one case of bottled water, one can of powdered lemonade, sunscreen, sponges, tire cleaner, and car soap by June 23, 2010.

2. You can help by lending us buckets, garden hoses, hose splitters, and spray nozzles. Bring along or drop off at the Riggle’s home.

3. You can help by volunteering. We need Crossroads Adults and Youth Group to get involved. Spend as much time as you can on Saturday morning. Come dressed appropriately – expect to get wet.

4. You can help by advertising. Send an email message to your friends and family, post to your facebook profile, and tell your co-workers!

5. You can help by making signs. CAR WASH in big, bold letters works best.

Q: I would be glad to help, who should I contact for more details?

A: Let Shawn Riggle know how you can help by email (shawn.riggle@gmail.com) or phone (703-590-9428)!

Youth Ski Retreat

March 5-7 Our Youth Ski Retreat spent  a wonderful weekend at Timberline Ski Resort in Canaan Valley, WV.

We had two days of skiing in great snow conditions they have had over 250 inches of snow this year, all the trails were open. The sun shone the whole weekend.

We stayed at Canaan Valley Baptist Church and had a lot of fun getting to know each other better and sharing God’s word.  Andrea Williams and Marcy Naylor (plus a couple of other adults) prepared some great meals for us. and Dave Williams kept us on track with a fun-filled schedule.
