14th Day Ladies Event – Sunday, July 14th

Ladies of Crossroads come and join us for our monthly get-together on Sunday, July 14th at 6:00p.m.

We will meet at Ruby Tuesday’s on Route 1 in Dumfries.

Heartfelt Worship

What does it mean to worship? Heartfelt worship…

Conclusion

Worship is an intelligent response to God: a response of praise, reverence, and obedience which stems from an understanding of who God is and who we are. God’s great goodness and our great need should cause us to respond to Him in heartfelt worship.

Some years ago, before computers, the Reuben Donnelly Company, handled magazine subscriptions for a number of publications. They had a machine that sent out the notices to people whose subscriptions had expired. One day the machine broke and a rancher in Powder Bluff, Colorado, received 9,734 notices that his subscription to National Geographic had expired. He drove the ten miles to the post office, sent his money and wrote, “Send me the magazine! I give up!”

God has flooded your life with far more than 9,734 notices of His love and blessing. He wants you to respond by giving up your self-seeking, stubborn ways and by giving in to His great goodness toward you in Christ. He wants you to be filled with heartfelt worship every day as you think about God’s great goodness and your great need.

Discussion Questions
1. How can a person who has been through terrible tragedy believe in the goodness of God?
2. How does the teaching that “we need to see ourselves as worthy people” undercut basic biblical truth?
3. How can a person who doesn’t feel like praising God do it from the heart?
4. How would you answer a Christian who claims that Psalm 103:3 promises physical healing to every Christian?

Crossroads’ Summer Bible Reading Plans

Dear Crossroads,
Summer is here and life is about to get busier than you know! It is most important that we remain in Scripture and embrace it. As God’s word, His revelation is for us to not only know His will but to also grow in our relationship with Him and others. I have attached a number of New Testament (or broad overview of both testaments) summer readings that are about 60 days long. Each have a unique path through Scripture depending on how you would like to challenge yourself and grow in God’s word.
1. New Testament reading
2. Chronological overview of the Bible (key passages)
3. General overview of the Bible (key passages)
4. Walking with Jesus (30 days)
Each are unique, depending on your interest and desire. I encourage all of us, children and adults, to make sure we take time out of our day to day routine to be in God’s word.

Thank you and God bless!

– Will Hailstone

Crossroads 2013 Mission Trip to Cherokee, NC

Dear Crossroads,

I’m excited to announce the dates for the 2013 short-term mission trip to Cherokee, NC. Crossroads plans to send a team to Cherokee for the following week:

July 27 – August 3

The cost of the trip, like last year, will be around $500 per person, but some family discounts will apply. Married couples and children attending with at least one parent qualify for a discounted rate.

Shortly after the New Year, we will schedule our first team meeting and begin discussing potential fundraising opportunities.

If you would like to be a part of this year’s team, please let me know before January 1. If you have already communicated with me about your interest, you need only contact me if you now know you will be unable to participate. For more general information about the Cherokee Mission, see http://www.mtw.org/Pages/2WK_USNCCherokee.aspx.

I hope to hear from you!
